Great article! This ties in really well with a previous article you had written before Concentration - Your #1 Superpower (https://vimals.substack.com/p/concentration-your-superpower-1-bc9?utm_source=profile&utm_medium=reader2). I had practiced listening intentionally after reading that article and let me tell you its hard! Putting away distractions really help. I will use the advice in this article to keep working on it! Thanks!! 😊

Sometimes just listening is what most of us want!! We all want to be heard. Good one

This is a reassuringly lucid explanation. Your diligent research, your lucid style and the intelligence of your argument are more than convincing.

Mere listening to a person who is under stress provides solace to the aggrieved person. He is able to vent out his feelings to someone who spared time to listen to him patiently. This, as we know, is part of Emotional Intelligence.

The second advantage by patiently listening to a wise and knowledgeable person is that his learning curve shortens. The good old saying-Fools learn from their own mistakes while wise people learn from the mistakes of others. Listening has tremendous advantages.

The knack of "observing " in itself, encompasses the art of listening. Majority of the "observant " people are by nature quite people. The process of " observing" is in totality- the quite surroundings, the active surroundings, what, how & why traits of human beings. One gets answers of so many questions without even asking ! The power of observation.

Agreed. Most of us are too busy to look around and observe. Observation is a virtue and the sign of wisdom.

It's interesting, and I realized the world needs speakers over thinkers because just thinking may not take one's life to the next level, but speaking can. For example, when we recommend someone for a job and we have gone through the pain of being jobless while our friends are enjoying their lives, Its a trauma, especially as an international student in any country. So helping the person standing opposite us will happen only by speaking, and that can change his life to the next level. And I believe people who have contributed to this world are thinkers, but if they don't speak up, their thoughts will die with them, which would not lead to the civilization of society and generations.

And I like the most to speak as a politician, not to give fake promises to the people and do corruption when they are in power. Sometimes power can speak up and do good things for others who deserve it.

Speaking can make us much better than thinking :)
